From Tradition to Modernity

The Amberif International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones often launches many new collections and brings events which are important to the amber industry. This year, the show has been crowned. Literally. This is the Balt company's doing; its stand will feature the gem of Gdańsk's seal – a crown with amber.

Made of gilded silver and decorated with genuine Baltic amber, the crown was created in the company's studio using ancient goldsmith techniques. It is a homage to the abundant history of Gdańsk as the Amber City. It is modelled after the crown of King Casimir the Jagiellon, who in 1457 added this royal symbol to the city's seal. Gdańsk is one of the few cities to receive a seal from the monarch; this wa s related to the Great Privilege which ushered the city's Golden Age. From the 15th century onwards, Gdańsk consistently strengthened its position to eventually become one of the most powerful cities of modern era Europe.

Balt will donate this extraordinary work to the Amber Museum. The official presentation will take place during the Amberif's Opening Ceremony.

The surprises don't end here, though. Balt respects history, but also looks to the future by searching for new development directions and jewellery forms to satisfy the most

discriminating tastes. This way of thinking has produced a new, light and attractive jewellery collection, which introduces contemporary and simple geometric amber gemstone forms in delicate silver and gold setting. This is to be a collection for everyone: universal and in tune with the latest trends. The company's owners want their designs to become widely popular.
